Stone Soup has become a generic name for free mission dinners in Lowville. Every Thursday of the month there is a dinner offered at churches in the village. The dinners started at First Presbyterian in early 2005 when a family in our church came up with the idea because they had an over abundance of produce in their garden. Soon the entire congregation was involved by donating more food as well as time and talent to make the dinners a reality. Soon after that other churches began to offer dinners as well. As the old folktale states: When all give what they can, there is more than enough to go around. If you would like to volunteer to assist this important community ministry, please contact the Stone Soup team through the church office (315-376-3631).
A free Stone Soup dinner is offered on the third Thursday of every month at 5:30 pm at the First Presbyterian Church fellowship hall.
